LG introduces mind-reading mobile phone
13-03-2008

LG Electronics, a worldwide technology leader in mobile communications, introduced its 2008 iF product design award winning LG KF600 to the Middle East and Africa markets.

LG's latest handset is a new mobile phone that is as feature rich and easy to use as it is stylish, thanks to its unique InteractPad.

The InteractPad replaces physical navigation keys with context-specific virtual keys that change to fit the task at hand.

This new interface comes in response to the need for a simple way to navigate through the multitudinous features on today's mobile phones.

The LG KF600's InteractPad and its virtual menu keys show the exact keys a user needs to complete the task at hand eliminating distractions.

This is far more flexible than standard hardware keys and eliminates the need to memorise exactly which key performs what function. These virtual keys are also larger and better spaced than physical keys, improving accuracy.

LG set to dominate GSM World Congress with its latest touch-screen advances
13-02-2008

Global and regional digital leader LG Electronics, a worldwide technology and design leader in mobile communications, will unveil its latest products and future technologies at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona, Spain.

At the show, LG will officially launch the LG-KF700, a new handset with an optimised user interface that makes use of touch technology. Further highlights include three other handsets featuring touch technology: the convenience-oriented LG-KF600, the slim and stylish design with interactive touch lighting phone LG-KF510, and a professional-level camera phone, the LG Viewty.

At the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2008, LG will build on the momentum for touchscreen phones that it generated last year when it launched the PRADA Phone by LG, the first phone with a full LCD touch-screen. The company developed its new phones based on insight from customers and designed them to be easier and more convenient to use.

The LG-KF700 includes multiple input methods including an adaptable touchscreen, keystroke-saving Shortcut Dial and numeric keypad, which help optimise this multimedia phone for users' needs. The LG-KF600's revolutionary InteractPad? feeds forward commands to users and seems almost to read their minds.

LG Viewty has already received accolades for its high-end digital camera functions and full touchscreen LCD, which have driven sales to more than 750,000 units since its European launch last November. The super slim LG-KF510 provides animated feedback to users with its unique, touch sensitive LED panel. Both the LG-KF600 and LG Viewty received the prestigious iF Product Design Award in 2008.

LG receives 13 top awards at CES 2008
07-01-2008

Global and regional digital leader LG Electronics unveiled its latest products and technologies at the 2008 edition of the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), being held at Las Vegas Convention Centre from January 7-10, 2008.

This year, LG received CES Innovations Awards for 13 products (five flat panel TVs, four mobile handsets, two home electronics products, one audio product and one video product), including the Best of Innovations Award in the video display category for its single-layer (frameless) plasma TV, the PG60. LG's five Innovation Awards for its flat panel TV line-up was exceptional; by receiving more than 60 CES Innovations Awards over the past four years, LG has become one of the most-honoured companies at the exhibition.

'The CES Innovations Awards are the benchmark for cutting-edge, best-in-class consumer technology,' said Mr. K.W. Kim, President of LG Electronics - Middle East and Africa. 'We are honoured that industry leaders again recognize LG's commitment to delivering advanced technology and innovative design to consumers around the world.'

LG was also setting new standards for mobile TV with its introduction of MPH (Mobile-Pedestrian-Handheld) digital TV broadcast technology at CES 2008. Around 570 products were presented at the show from LG's different divisions, including:

Flat Panel TVs: LG presented its next-generation LCD and plasma product line-up featuring innovative designs and high-tech functionality. LG's two new flagship TVs, the LG60 LCD TV, one of the slimmest TVs available and PG60 plasma TV, a clean and frameless design made possible through advanced technology, will help it achieve its 2008 sales goals.

Both the LG60 and PG60 have been developed based on LG's knack for consumer insight. The company's innovative technology has also been updated for its premium products, the LG70 and PG70, to allow Full HD wireless data streaming.

Audio/ Video Products: Led by its award-winning dual-format Super Blu? Player (BH200), LG expands its 2008 digital audio-video line with innovative home theatre audio products and new portable navigation devices. The BH200 is LG's second generation high-def player to offer full Blu-ray disc and HD DVD playback in one device, an LG first. The 2008 digital audio-video line highlights enhanced sound quality, sleek designs and new features, such as HD radio compatibility and user-friendly touch-sensing controls.

LCD Monitors: LG's flagship LCD monitors, the W52 series, combine cutting-edge performance with stylish designs that integrate into any home office or high-end professional setting. The series features Digital Fine Contrast Technology which boosts the contrast ratio to 10,000:1, one of the highest ratios available today and 'ez Zooming' technology which helps users quickly change the image size and resolution with the click of a button.

The company was also showcasing its L206WU monitor, which allows multi-screen users to easily connect up to six other monitors or eight notebook PCs without having to add any video cards or other hardware.

Mobile Handsets: The newest products for 2008 on display include phones and accessories that feature the latest in touch screen technology, advanced music and TV capabilities, and Bluetooth technology. LG was honoured with multiple 2008 CES Innovations Awards this year for its handsets, including Voyager by LG, Venus by LG and the Musiq by LG. Voyager by LG is the first handset with an interactive touch screen and a full QWERTY keyboard.
